Samsung and Motorola Sign Cross-License Agreement
July 08, 2005
Samsung announced in a filing to the Korea Exchange on Friday July 1 that it has signed a cross-license agreement with Motorola to share mobile phone technology. No details of the agreement were released. This agreement is part of larger trend as technology companies are trying to avoid costly disputes over intellectual property.

In 2004 Samsung signed a cross-license agreement with Sony to share patents on technologies related to semiconductors. LG and Matsushita also signed a similar agreement at the beginning of 2005 in order to share technology of plasma displays, PCs and DVDs.
